Privacy Policy
Plain-language version first: we collect very little, we don't sell anything about you, and your project data stays yours. Details below.

1. What we collect
When you contact us, we receive whatever you choose to send: your name, email address, and the contents of your message. If we begin a project together, we may also receive datasets and documents you share for that work.
If you create an account, we store your name, email address, and a securely hashed version of your password (we never store the password itself). We also record when the account was created and whether your email has been verified.
This website itself does not run analytics trackers or advertising pixels. Standard server logs (IP address, requested page, timestamp) may be kept briefly for security, rate-limiting, and debugging.
2. How we use it
Contact details are used to reply to you and to run projects we've agreed on. Account details are used to operate your account: verifying your email, logging you in, and sending essential service emails (such as verification links). We don't add you to marketing lists you didn't sign up for, and the optional notes signup is used only to send those notes.
3. Accounts, sessions, and cookies
When you log in, we set one strictly necessary session cookie (sgh_session) so the site can remember that it's you. It is HttpOnly, expires after 7 days at most, and is deleted when you log out. It is not used for tracking or advertising. See the Cookie Policy for details.
Email verification links are single-use, short-lived, and stored only as cryptographic hashes on our side.
4. Your project data
Data you share for a project is used solely for that project. We do not sell it, share it with third parties beyond agreed subprocessors (such as a cloud provider you've approved), or use it to train models for anyone else. NDAs are signed before we look at anything sensitive.
When a project ends, we delete our working copies of your data on request, and confirm in writing when it's done.
5. Security
We use encrypted storage and access controls on project data, and we keep access limited to the people actually working on your project. No system is perfectly secure, and we won't pretend ours is — but we take reasonable, current-practice precautions and will notify you promptly if something goes wrong involving your data.
6. Data retention
Account data is kept for as long as your account exists. Delete your account (or ask us to) and it goes with it. Contact-form messages are kept only as long as needed to handle your enquiry. Server logs are rotated on a short schedule.
7. Third parties
We do not sell or rent your information to anyone. We load fonts from Google Fonts (your browser makes a standard request to Google's servers), and transactional emails such as verification links are delivered through our email provider. Neither receives more than what's technically required to do its job.
8. Children's privacy
Our services are aimed at businesses and professionals. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 16. If you believe a child has provided us information, email us and we'll delete it.
9. Your rights
You can ask us what information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email hello@smartgenhub.com and we'll handle it — no forms, no runaround. 10. Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle your information, this page is updated first and the "last updated" date above changes. Material changes affecting account holders will also be announced by email.
